Carla Rak
Carla Rak lives and works in Rome, Italy, where she was born in 1978. After years spent as photoeditor in a big photo agency, since 2011 she has been working as a freelance editor and photography teacher. With a degree in Sociology and a PhD in Communication Sciences, her academic researches on photography had the recognition of the Institute of Philosophical Studies in Naples and the Gaetano Cozzi Award from the Benetton Foundation.
In 2012 Carla started developing her own artistic career, exhibiting her works for the first time in 2014. Rather then focusing on one form of expression, she chooses the one most appropriate to each artwork, working with different tools such textiles, photography, writing, collages. She is interested in exploring the unconscious feelings, emotional bonds, rituals and symbols, and how these psychological and cultural structures interact with the relationship with memory and the stream of time, with nature and the human relationships.
